The Great Lakes Legends Series returns to Grand Bend Speedway this Saturday. Racing starts at 7:00 pm and features a full card of racing with 9 HP Sprints, 4 Cylinders, V8 Late Models, Mini Trucks, and development competition from the Junior Sprints and Junior Late Models.
Saturday is also a fan appreciation night with a special driver meet & greet session at the intermission that will let fans get up close to the racing vehicles.
The Great Lakes Legends are a fast-growing touring series in Ontario that makes use of the popular Legends cars seen at many tracks in the USA. The cars themselves are 5/8-scale fiberglass full-fendered versions of the famed NASCAR modifieds from the 1930s and 1940s powered by 125 HP Yamaha engines weighing in at 1,250 lbs.
General admission seating includes access to the lawn chair area as well as the grandstand. Pits are open free of charge after the event to get an up close look at the racing vehicles.

About the Track: Grand Bend Speedway is a 1/4 mile paved Tri-Oval race track. Originally built in 1996 for small-scale vehicles it was later expanded into the track of today which can accommodate both half-size development series as well as full-size race cars. The track is located just outside the town of Grand Bend beside the Grand Bend Motorplex facility.
The Southern Ontario Pro 4 Modified headlines competition this Saturday at Grand Bend Speedway for Father’s Day Weekend. Racing starts at 7:00 PM.
The BCW Lumber Brantford Series is a class of open-wheel modified vehicles powered by four cylinder engines. During their events last season at GBS they thrilled with top-notch competition at each of their visits. Nick Abballe (#66) of Tottenham won both of the tour’s stops last year.
In addition to the Pro 4 Modified event, fans will also catch the V8 Late Models, 4 Cylinders, 9HP Sprints, and development competition from the Junior Sprints. There will also be a King of the Hill Spectator’s Race that lets fans enter their street cars into two-lap races around the track.
After the races the Creek Beaver Boys band takes to the Landshark Stage for the post-race party.
Racing on Saturday at Grand Bend Speedway gets underway at 7:00 pm for the Jared Doxtator Memorial event. The evening features a full slate of racing including V8 Late Models, 4 Cylinders, 9HP Sprints and Mini Trucks and development competition from the Junior Sprints and Junior Late Models. The Outside Groove party bar will be open after the event with the Landshark Stage featuring the Creekie Beaver Boys band after the races.
Following last week’s sudden event cancellation, Grand Bend Speedway is updating its 2023 racing schedule with the aim of enhancing competition at the track and ensuring the circumstances leading to the cancellation do not repeat. The new schedule ensures that there will be racing for drivers every week at the track with some races on Thursdays and others on Saturdays throughout the summer. Racing at the track resumes immediately with the next competition scheduled for this Saturday, June 10 at 7:00 pm for the Jared Doxtator Memorial.
